Your task is to complete a database design for the Assignment 1 case study.

Model the system described in the case study by drawing a physical data model (ER diagram) using MySQL Workbench. Your ER diagram must conform to the notation used in this subject (object notation = Workbench Simplified, relationships notation = Crows Foot, show data types). Your model should be in at least 3^rd normal form.

Create also a data dictionary which includes short explanations of the purpose and structure of your 3 largest entities (largest means having the most columns). Follow the format in the example Data Dictionary provided.

Create also a work breakdown which identifies the work performed by each group member. This should take about half a page of text.

Assessment

This assignment is worth 20% of your marks in the subject.

Your work will be assessed according to its correctness and completeness. Correctness refers to whether your model and data dictionary adhere to the required rules and syntax. Completeness refers to whether the model includes all of the required entities and relationships and can handle the data storage problems and business requirements.

Each assignment is marked out of 100: 90 for the ER model and 10 for the data dictionary. The work breakdown is a hurdle. Up to 5 marks will be deducted for poor readability; i.e. clear layout and readable text are required.

Late submissions will be penalized at 10% per day.

The assignment must be completed in groups of 3. Other group sizes will be penalized unless permission is sought for exceptional circumstances
