Aim: In this assignment, you will use Matlab to simulate the transmission of a digital image over a communication system consisting of a channel coder, modulator, Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel, demodulator, and channel decoder.

What to submit: Your coursework must be submitted as a report in Word format to Turnitin. All Matlab scripts used must be included as appendices at the end of the report. All code lines must be commented to explain them. All sources used in the report must be cited as appropriate. All references must be in IEEE format. Please note that 5 marks will be allocated to the presentation and organisation of your report.

Write a Matlab script that simulates the transmission of the image peppers.png over an AWGN channel using QPSK modulation. Give the bit error rate (BER) for different values of the energy per bit to noise power spectral density ratio (Eb/N0). Discuss your results. Illustrate your answer with pictures of the received images.

Add an LDPC encoder and decoder to your system. Repeat the experiment and discuss your results. You must clearly describe the LDPC coder used.

LTE uses a turbo coder as a channel coder. However, the 3GPP RAN1 group has recommended using LDPC codes for data channels and polar codes for signaling (i.e., for the control channels) for 5G systems. Research the literature to explain this decision. Your answer must not exceed 500 words.
